Prior to forming her consulting venture, Ms. McDowell was most recently Corporate Controller for Belkin International, a privately held distributor of home networking and entertainment devices as well as mobile accessories, energy management solutions and networking cables.

Prior to joining Cisco, Ms. McDowell was the Director of Accounting at Conexant, a publicly held multi-division semiconductor supplier, where she led the general accounting function for multiple domestic and international entities. She was heavily involved in the company’s SAP ERP system and served as the main Finance contact for IT. Ms. McDowell organized process improvement committees and implemented a standardized close process, resulting in a closing-time improvement of two days. She led the Accounting-related tracks for multiple acquisitions, divestitures, spin-offs and merger activities.

Before joining Conexant, Ms. McDowell served as the Accounting Manager for Monier Life Tile, a roof tile manufacturer and distributor. While at Monier Life Tile, she became a Super User for the company’s ERP system, SAP, participated in multiple implementations and led several process improvement initiatives resulting in cost savings and improvements in reporting timelines and data integrity.

Ms. McDowell began her career in finance and accounting while working at her family’s closely-held construction and property management companies. She assumed responsibility for the financial management of the business and served as its Controller. Later, she decided to pursue a career in Public Accounting, becoming a licensed CPA. Ms. McDowell performed audit and tax work for Soren, McAdam and Bartell’s, as well as for McGladrey and Pullen.

Prior to Belkin Ms. McDowell was CFO for Cisco System’s Home Networking Business Unit, which was acquired by Belkin in March 2013. Ms. McDowell joined Cisco in 2003, shortly after Cisco’s acquisition of the Linksys home networking business. In the role of Corporate Controller for Cisco’s first stand-alone division, she was responsible for the non-integrated accounting function of the division, including the financial close, Oracle financial systems, multiple systems implementations, process improvements, subsequent acquisition integrations (most notably Flip Video), tax/legal, and alignment/integration opportunities for the division within Cisco. In 2011, as part of Cisco’s Consumer Business reorganization, Ms. McDowell transitioned into the role of business unit CFO and was tasked to lead a recovery effort for Linksys as well as the wind-down of the Flip Video business. Within 1 quarter Ms. McDowell successfully turned the Linksys Business profitable after 2 years of significant operating losses.
